Egypt partners with Ukraine for joint space research & exploration

The Egyptian Space Agency (EgSA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ukrainian Space Agency during the eighth session of the Egyptian-Ukrainian Government Committee, in a bid to drive technological innovation and activate new mechanisms for peaceful cooperation in the space sector.

With a number of stakeholders—from global space agencies to emerging private sector players—currently vying for a place in the global space journey, it has become more apparent than ever that the future of space exploration must be collaborative.

The collaboration will allow for the peaceful use of outer space and introduce concerted efforts between Egypt and Ukraine in space activities, research, and exploration. Back on earth, the MoU will facilitate the exchange of knowledge between the two countries through bilateral meetings, workshops, and research collaborations. The Ukrainian agency will aid in the development of advanced manufacturing techniques which will, in turn, increase the capacity of the EgSA’s space project management.

This isn’t the first time the two space agencies joined forces in the intergalactic realm. In 2007, they collaborated to launch EgyptSat-1, Egypt’s first remote sensing satellite.
