Anthropic has officially expanded its footprint in Asia by opening a new office in Seoul, South Korea. The move strengthens the company’s presence in one of the world’s fastest-growing AI markets and reflects increasing demand for its Claude AI models across the region. As a result, Seoul becomes Anthropic’s third major Asia-Pacific hub after Tokyo and Bengaluru.
The expansion comes as Korean businesses, developers, and enterprises rapidly adopt generative AI technologies. Moreover, Anthropic views South Korea as a strategic market due to its strong technology ecosystem, advanced infrastructure, and growing enterprise AI adoption.
Korea Emerges as a Key Market for Claude
Anthropic reported that South Korea ranks among the most active markets globally for Claude usage. According to company data, Korean users engage with Claude at a rate more than 3.5 times higher than expected relative to the country’s population size. Furthermore, usage remains concentrated in technical, software development, and creative workflows.
The company also noted significant growth in adoption among developers and enterprises. Consequently, weekly active users of Claude Code in Korea have increased sharply, highlighting the country’s strong appetite for AI-powered productivity tools.
Anthropic believes local demand will continue growing throughout the coming years. Therefore, establishing a physical presence in Seoul will allow the company to support customers more closely and deepen relationships with Korean organizations.
Leadership Appointment Supports Local Growth
To lead its Korean operations, Anthropic appointed KiYoung Choi as Representative Director of Korea ahead of the Seoul office opening. Choi brings more than three decades of experience in the technology sector and previously held leadership positions at Snowflake, Google Cloud, Adobe, Autodesk, and Microsoft.
“Korea is one of the most sophisticated AI markets in the world, leading in hardware innovation, developer activity, and enterprise adoption,” KiYoung said. “Korean organizations combine technical depth with a commitment to responsible deployment, which is exactly where Anthropic operates. That alignment is what brought me to Anthropic—and why we are focused on building in Korea for the long term.”
Senior Anthropic executives are expected to visit Seoul to formally inaugurate the office and meet with enterprise customers. Meanwhile, the company plans to recruit local talent and strengthen partnerships with startups, developers, and major corporations throughout South Korea.
Expanding Global Enterprise AI Operations
Anthropic’s Seoul expansion forms part of a broader international growth strategy. The company has accelerated investments in Asia as enterprise demand for generative AI solutions continues to rise. In addition, nearly 80 percent of Claude’s enterprise usage now comes from outside the United States, highlighting the platform’s growing global reach.
The company already works with partners such as SK Telecom and serves hundreds of thousands of enterprise customers worldwide. Consequently, the new Seoul office is expected to strengthen Anthropic’s ability to support regional clients while expanding adoption of Claude across industries.
As competition intensifies in the AI sector, Anthropic continues investing in local markets where demand for advanced AI tools is accelerating. Therefore, the Seoul office represents another significant step in the company’s effort to build a stronger global presence while supporting responsible AI deployment across Asia-Pacific markets.
