Apple Redesigns Health App With AI-Powered Features

Redesigned Apple Health app displaying AI-powered health insights

Apple has unveiled a redesigned Health app that uses Apple Intelligence to deliver personalised health insights, fitness guidance and long-term wellness recommendations. The update aims to help users understand their health data and make more informed decisions about daily routines.

Announced on September 9, 2026, and expanded with additional language support on November 3, the redesigned experience introduces new tools for tracking health trends. It also brings together information from iPhone, Apple Watch, AirPods, and compatible third-party devices.

The updated app makes complex health information easier to understand. As a result, users can receive recommendations based on their activity, sleep patterns, heart health, and other personal metrics.

Apple has also introduced the redesigned experience in its iOS 27.3 developer beta. The company plans to distribute it as a free software update later this year.

Apple Intelligence Powers Personalised Health Insights

The redesigned Health app adds an Insights tab that consolidates key health information. It covers heart health, sleep, fitness, readiness, vital signs and menstrual cycle tracking.

Additionally, a dedicated For You section delivers recommendations based on individual health patterns. For example, users experiencing several nights of interrupted sleep may receive suggestions to adjust their evening routines.

The app also connects health measurements with educational content. Users can access videos and articles featuring Apple’s clinical experts to help them understand their results and identify practical improvements.

Another major addition is the Longevity tab. It examines longer-term health trends across several areas, including cardiovascular health, sleep, mental wellbeing, movement, metabolism, hearing and nutrition.

The new Health Age feature also compares selected health indicators with a user’s chronological age. It uses measurements such as resting heart rate, heart rate variability, sleep and VO₂ max.

Users can also add lab results, including cholesterol and blood sugar measurements, for additional context. However, Health Age provides an estimate based on available measurements, not a medical diagnosis.

At-Home Movement Assessments and Health Monitoring

Apple is also introducing at-home movement evaluations that use an iPhone camera and Apple Watch. These assessments examine flexibility, strength, balance, movement mechanics and VO₂ max.

The system uses on-device AI models to analyse movement and provide real-time audio and visual feedback. Importantly, Apple says the process runs entirely on the device. It does not record, store or share video footage.

This feature could make certain physical assessments more accessible without specialised equipment. Moreover, users can receive guidance to understand areas that may benefit from improvement.

The redesigned app also introduces access to laboratory testing through Quest Diagnostics in the United States. Users can purchase tests covering more than 50 biomarkers for $119 at about 2,000 locations.

Additionally, Apple is expanding its health and fitness ecosystem by better integrating with its wearable devices. The company aims to connect everyday measurements with broader health trends and personalised recommendations.

Health App Expands Language Support and Availability

Apple is expanding the redesigned Health app to 11 languages, making its personalised features accessible to more users worldwide.

The supported languages include:

The updated language support accompanies the redesigned experience in the iOS 27.3 developer beta. Meanwhile, Apple plans to roll it out more widely through a free software update later this year.

However, availability will depend on device compatibility, region and language. The advanced features require Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad models, while certain measurements also require an Apple Watch or compatible accessories.

Privacy remains central to the redesign. Apple says the app protects personal health information throughout the experience, including its on-device movement assessment capabilities.

The update reflects Apple’s broader effort to combine artificial intelligence with personal health monitoring. Rather than simply collecting measurements, the redesigned app aims to explain what those measurements mean and how users can respond.

As Apple expands its health ecosystem, integrating AI-driven insights, wearable sensors, and personalised recommendations could make the Health app a more comprehensive platform for everyday wellness management.
