The guarantee will support capital investment, business development, and innovation. In particular, Wisewell plans to use the backing to advance its Internet of Things (IoT)-enabled purification systems. These systems purify water at the source and provide real-time information about water quality, consumption, and environmental impact.
Consequently, the technology offers households and businesses an alternative to single-use plastic water bottles. Users can monitor water-related data while reducing their reliance on bottled water deliveries and disposable packaging.
Expanding Sustainable Water Technology
Fatima Yousif Alnaqbi, Acting Assistant Undersecretary for the Support Services Sector at the UAE Ministry of Finance and the ministry’s representative at MBRIF, said the fund supports innovative companies that advance the UAE’s sustainability goals. She also highlighted Wisewell’s use of technology to address environmental and public health challenges.
Meanwhile, Wisewell founder Sami Khoreibi said the funding would help the company accelerate research, expand operations, and improve access to clean drinking water. He also pointed to the challenges of bottled water, including delivery requirements, plastic waste, and storage clutter.
The company has reported preventing more than 17.4 million single-use plastic bottles from reaching landfills. Furthermore, Wisewell has joined the UAE Ministry of Economy’s Future100 initiative and reached the top 20 finalists in Majra’s Sustainable Impact Challenge 2025.
MBRIF’s Support for UAE Innovators
The guarantee falls under MBRIF’s broader effort to help promising businesses secure financing and scale their operations. Through its Guarantee Scheme, eligible companies can access funding without surrendering equity. As a result, they can invest in technology, strengthen operations, and pursue growth while retaining ownership.
The initiative also supports the UAE’s wider goals for innovation, economic diversification, and sustainable development. In Wisewell’s case, the backing connects water technology research with practical efforts to reduce plastic waste and improve access to drinking water.
As demand grows for resource-efficient technologies, the funding could help Wisewell expand its reach among homes and businesses. However, its longer-term impact will depend on adoption, operational growth, and measurable environmental outcomes.
