Aljazira Bank Thunes Remittance Partnership Signing

Aljazira Bank has partnered with Thunes to expand international remittance services from Saudi Arabia. The agreement aims to improve transfer speeds, reliability and access to global payment destinations.

Announced on September 28, 2026, the collaboration will connect Aljazira Bank’s retail customers to Thunes’ Direct Global Network. Consequently, customers will gain access to international bank accounts and mobile wallets through an expanded payment network.

The partnership also supports Saudi Arabia’s digital payments development under Vision 2030. Moreover, it reflects growing demand for faster and more accessible cross-border financial services.

Expanding International Payment Coverage

Through Thunes’ Direct Global Network, Aljazira Bank will broaden its international payment catalogue. The agreement adds new payment endpoints and destinations across several major markets.

Customers will gain access to billions of bank accounts and mobile wallets worldwide. In particular, the network covers key remittance corridors across Asia-Pacific, Europe and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).

Additionally, the collaboration aims to improve the speed and reliability of consumer transfers. It will also support real-time access to international payment destinations, helping customers send money across borders more efficiently.

Fahad Almutairi, Head of Retail Digital Banking and Payments at Aljazira Bank, said the partnership would significantly upgrade cross-border payment capabilities.

He added that the bank prioritises broader customer access and faster account transfers. Furthermore, Almutairi highlighted the growing popularity of mobile wallets and new payment technologies.

Supporting Saudi Arabia’s Digital Payments Market

The agreement comes as Saudi Arabia continues to develop its digital financial services sector. Under Vision 2030, the Kingdom aims to strengthen its position in global digital finance.

According to research by Thunes and Juniper Research, 56% of Saudi residents sent money internationally during the previous year. Therefore, demand for accessible and efficient remittance services remains significant.

Thunes continues to expand its partnerships with regulated financial institutions in Saudi Arabia. Through these relationships, the company aims to support the country’s growing cross-border payment requirements.

Ahmad Yaacoub, Thunes’ VP for MENA and Country Head for Saudi Arabia, said the agreement reflects financial institutions’ confidence in the company’s network.
