Samsung has introduced the Galaxy A27 5G, its newest mid-range A-series smartphone. The phone starts at $350 in the United States, which is $50 higher than last year’s Galaxy A26 5G. It will reach select global markets on July 3, while U.S. sales begin on July 14.
Performance and Display
The Galaxy A27 5G now runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 processor instead of Samsung’s Exynos chip. As a result, users should see better responsiveness and improved graphics performance for gaming and streaming. The chipset uses a 4nm process, which also helps with efficiency.
The phone ships with Android 16 and One UI 8.5. In addition, Samsung promises up to six generations of OS upgrades and six years of security updates. This makes the device more appealing for buyers who keep their phones for several years.
The Galaxy A27 5G features a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. However, Samsung has replaced the old waterdrop notch with a punch-hole Infinity-O design. “Together with a reduced and more balanced bezel, this adds screen space and removes distractions to keep content front and center,” Samsung said in its announcement.
The base version includes 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Meanwhile, buyers can also choose an 8GB RAM and 256GB storage variant. The phone also supports microSD cards up to 2TB.
AI Features and Key Changes
Samsung has added several AI tools to the Galaxy A27 5G. For example, Circle to Search now supports multi-object recognition. The phone also includes an improved Object Eraser and Voice Recorder transcription with real-time translation in 22 languages.
In addition, the device supports Bixby as a conversational device agent. It also works with Google Gemini and Perplexity as AI assistants.
However, Samsung has made some trade-offs. The Galaxy A27 5G has an IP64 rating, down from IP67 on the Galaxy A26 5G. Therefore, it can handle splashes, but it no longer carries a rating for temporary water immersion.
The camera setup also sees a small downgrade. The ultra-wide rear camera drops from 8MP to 5MP. Still, Samsung keeps the 50MP main camera with OIS and the 2MP macro lens.
Price and Availability
The Galaxy A27 5G will come in Black, Blue, and Light Pink. It will launch first in select markets on July 3. After that, it will arrive in the United States on July 14.
In the UK, the 6GB/128GB model starts at £319. Meanwhile, the 8GB/256GB version costs £379. Samsung Care+ coverage will also be available for the device.
