Meta has introduced Muse Charm, a compact device designed to bring its personal AI assistant into everyday life. The announcement came during Meta Connect 2026, as the company expands its AI hardware and software offerings.

The keychain-sized gadget provides direct access to Muse through voice interaction and a small display. Consequently, users can interact with their AI assistant without opening a smartphone application.

Meta aims to make personal AI accessible throughout the day. However, the company has yet to finalise the hardware specifications or announce pricing and a firm release date.

Meta Muse Charm Combines Voice Interaction and Compact Design

Muse Charm features a compact, screen-equipped design that users can carry in a pocket or attach to a keychain. The device includes a small display showing an animated avatar representing Muse. In addition, a fingerprint sensor allows users to initiate interactions with the assistant.

The hardware focuses on real-time voice communication. Therefore, users can access Muse directly rather than navigating a phone’s interface. Meta describes Charm as a dedicated way to interact with its AI agent, combining the assistant with its real-time voice and avatar technology.

The company has not confirmed the final dimensions, battery life, connectivity details or materials. Moreover, reports indicate that Meta continues to refine the internal hardware layout.

Meta expects to share further details later in 2026. Meanwhile, reporting points to a potential December launch during the holiday season. However, the company has not confirmed a final retail date or price.

Muse AI Agent Handles Tasks Across Connected Services

Muse Charm relies on Meta’s Muse AI agent, which the company introduced in September 2026. Unlike conventional assistants, Muse can take action on a user’s behalf and manage tasks across connected services.

The agent runs through Muse Secure VM, a dedicated virtual machine with its own browser. This environment enables Muse to navigate websites and complete online tasks. For example, it can send emails, book travel, complete forms, and organise information.

Moreover, Muse can retain information from earlier conversations and apply that context to longer-term goals. It can also create tools when existing options cannot complete a particular task.

Meta has expanded Muse’s connections to third-party services. These include email, calendars and applications for shopping, travel and productivity. Consequently, Muse Charm could provide a convenient physical interface for managing everyday activities.

Muse currently offers access via iOS and Android apps, with additional availability on WhatsApp and Mac. However, Meta has not confirmed whether every software capability will work directly through Charm at launch.

Privacy, Security and Availability

Since Muse can perform tasks involving personal information, Meta has incorporated several security controls into the assistant.

Users decide which services Muse can access and what permissions it receives. Furthermore, the agent can request approval before taking sensitive actions, such as sending emails or making purchases.

Meta says Muse provides an audit trail of completed and planned activities. It also stores credentials securely, preventing the agent from directly reading passwords or payment information. Meanwhile, Meta plans to introduce 1Password integration.

These safeguards form part of Meta’s broader approach to personal AI. Nevertheless, users will need further information about Charm’s hardware security, connectivity and privacy controls before evaluating the standalone device.

For now, Meta has not announced retail pricing or confirmed availability outside the United States. The company expects to share additional details later this year.

Ultimately, Muse Charm represents Meta’s effort to extend personal AI beyond smartphones and smart glasses. Its usefulness will depend on the final hardware, supported services and how conveniently users can access Muse throughout the day.
