Meta Launches AI Smart Glasses Starting at $299

Meta AI smart glasses collection

Meta has launched its first AI-powered smart glasses under its own brand name, marking a significant step in its wearable technology strategy. Unlike previous products tied to established eyewear labels, the new collection carries Meta branding and starts at $299. Additionally, the glasses support prescription lenses, making them suitable for everyday use rather than serving as a niche technology product.

Three Frame Styles and AI Features

The new lineup includes three frame designs: Adventurer, Fury, and Starfire. While the collection is manufactured through a long-standing eyewear partnership, the products are sold independently without any legacy eyewear branding.

Moreover, all models support prescription powers ranging from -8.00 to +6.00. Buyers can choose from clear, plano sun, polarized sun, and Transitions lenses. Each pair includes a charging case that delivers up to 40 hours of combined battery life. Furthermore, the glasses operate using the Muse Spark AI model, which recently replaced Llama 4 on the company’s smart eyewear platform.

The collection also includes the Starfire Kylie Edition, developed in collaboration with Kylie Jenner. This special version is priced at $399 and forms part of the company’s Global Creator Collection.

Expanding the Wearables Portfolio

The launch follows earlier reports about an internally planned smart glasses project scheduled for a mid-year release. Notably, the new glasses carry the same $299 starting price as a previous generation of AI eyewear introduced in late 2023. However, they cost less than prescription-enabled models released earlier this year.

Customers can purchase the glasses through the company’s website as well as major retail and online channels. As a result, the product becomes widely accessible across multiple markets.

Competition in the Smart Eyewear Market

Meanwhile, competition in the smart glasses sector continues to intensify. Earlier this month, Snap opened pre-orders for its standalone AR Specs priced at $2,195. At the same time, major eyewear and technology firms are working together to develop advanced display technologies for future smart eyewear products.

Additionally, industry demand continues to rise. One leading eyewear manufacturer reported sales of more than 7 million AI glasses during 2025, more than tripling the combined sales recorded over the previous two years. Consequently, companies are accelerating investments as the smart eyewear market expands rapidly.
