Anthropic Targets $900 Billion AI Valuation Round

Anthropic AI valuation and funding growth

Anthropic is reportedly discussing a new financing round worth at least $30 billion. Moreover, the proposed deal could value the AI company at more than $900 billion before new funding enters the business. If completed, the round would more than double Anthropic’s valuation within three months.

Bloomberg reported that negotiations remain ongoing and no final agreement has been signed. Nevertheless, the company could finalize the funding round before the end of May. The raise would also become Anthropic’s largest financing round to date.

Infrastructure Deals Fuel Rapid Growth

The potential valuation surge follows Anthropic’s February Series G round, which valued the company at $380 billion. Since then, investor demand has accelerated alongside major infrastructure agreements.

In late April, Amazon expanded its backing with up to $25 billion in additional investment. At the same time, Anthropic committed to spending more than $100 billion on AWS technologies over the next decade. Shortly afterward, Google pledged an initial $10 billion investment, while additional funding could reach another $30 billion through performance-based milestones.

As a result, Anthropic’s valuation trajectory has moved closer to the trillion-dollar level once reserved for the world’s largest public technology companies.

Compute Expansion Intensifies Competition

Anthropic has also expanded its computing partnerships beyond Amazon and Google. Earlier this month, the company secured access to SpaceX’s Colossus 1 data center in Memphis, Tennessee. The agreement includes more than 220,000 Nvidia GPUs and over 300 megawatts of computing capacity.

In addition, Anthropic and SpaceX are exploring future AI data centers in orbit. Days later, Anthropic signed a seven-year cloud computing contract with Akamai valued at $1.8 billion.

The investment surge has significantly boosted returns for Anthropic’s largest backers. Consequently, Alphabet and Amazon have recorded major gains linked to their investments in the company.

However, questions continue to grow around the sustainability of private AI valuations approaching $1 trillion. Investors now face increasing pressure to balance rapid revenue growth, rising infrastructure costs, and long-term IPO expectations as competition intensifies across the AI industry.
