Apple Celebrates 50th Anniversary with Grand Finale at Apple Park

Apple Park anniversary celebration event

Apple will mark its 50th anniversary on April 1, celebrating a journey that began in a small garage in Los Altos, California. Over five decades, the company has grown into one of the world’s most valuable businesses, with a market value exceeding $3.6 trillion and more than 2.5 billion active devices globally.

Leading up to the milestone, the company has hosted events throughout March across several countries. For example, Alicia Keys performed at Apple Grand Central in New York, while additional celebrations took place in Europe, Asia, and Australia. Meanwhile, anticipation has built around a private grand finale event at Apple Park in Cupertino.

According to Mark Gurman, the finale will feature a headline performer linked to the British Invasion era, which many interpret as Paul McCartney. At the same time, the early closure of the Apple Park Visitor Center has further fueled speculation about the timing of the event.

From Garage Startup to Global Leader

The company began as Apple Computer Company, founded by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, and Ronald Wayne in 1976. Since then, it has evolved into a global technology leader shaping how people interact with devices and services.

To commemorate this legacy, a recent auction titled “Steve Jobs and the Computer Revolution” highlighted rare historical items. Notably, an early $500 check signed by Jobs and Wozniak sold for $2.4 million. In addition, a prototype Apple-1 motherboard, known as “Board Zero,” fetched $2.75 million, far exceeding expectations.

Earlier in March, CEO Tim Cook reflected on the company’s origins in an open letter. “Fifty years ago, in a small garage, a big idea was born,” Cook wrote. “Apple was founded on a simple notion — that technology should be personal”.

Looking Ahead While Reflecting Back

As the company celebrates its past, it also continues to expand its global reach. Recently, it reported an installed base exceeding 2.5 billion active devices, up from 2.35 billion the previous year. Furthermore, services revenue reached a record $30 billion for the quarter.

While the anniversary events highlight decades of innovation, they also signal continued momentum. Therefore, the company remains focused on future growth, even as it reflects on its achievements. For now, however, the celebrations at Apple Park will serve as a fitting conclusion to a historic milestone.
