Firefox Update Adds Perplexity AI, Profiles, and Google Lens for Smarter Browsing

Firefox update with Perplexity AI

Mozilla has added Perplexity AI as a new search option in Firefox. The integration brings conversational answers with citations while maintaining privacy. Moreover, the update introduces browser profiles and a visual search feature powered by Google Lens, giving users more flexibility and control.

Perplexity AI Search Integration

The new Perplexity integration allows users to choose an AI-powered answer engine directly within the Firefox search bar. It provides conversational responses with verified citations, helping people validate facts without switching between multiple tabs.

In its announcement, the team explained that the goal is to “give users choice.” With this feature, users can decide whether to use the AI engine or stick with traditional search. The tool is already available globally through the unified search button and will expand to mobile devices soon.

Furthermore, the design ensures privacy remains a core focus. Unlike other AI engines, Perplexity in Firefox does not track or store personal browsing data. Therefore, users gain AI convenience without sacrificing control over their information.

Browser Profiles and Visual Search

Alongside the AI update, Firefox now supports browser profiles for all users. This addition allows seamless switching between setups such as work, school, or personal use. Each profile operates independently, offering a cleaner interface and improved focus. For example, one can manage office tabs in a work profile while keeping personal sessions separate.

In addition, Firefox introduces visual search powered by Google Lens. This tool lets users perform searches using images directly on desktop. As a result, finding product details, identifying landmarks, or exploring visual content becomes quicker and more intuitive.
