In a high-energy livestream on X (formerly Twitter), Elon Musk and the xAI team unveiled Grok 4, the latest artificial intelligence model from xAI. According to Musk, Grok 4 is “the smartest in the world.” This bold claim stirred instant buzz online, drawing attention from AI experts and casual users alike.

Grok 4 was released on July 9, 2025, and it integrates directly with X, the Grok web platform, and its mobile apps. Musk also announced that Grok will appear in Tesla cars as early as next week. However, exact functionalities like voice assistance or infotainment integration have yet to be detailed.

The name “Grok” comes from the term meaning a deep, intuitive understanding. With that, xAI aims to deliver a “truth-seeking AI companion” that includes advanced reasoning, voice capabilities, and multimodal features. Notably, Grok 4 is designed not only to understand but to interact across various types of data, including text, image, and sound.

Features, Use Cases, and Performance

Grok 4 has showcased impressive use cases. For example, it can solve advanced math problems, generate visualizations of space phenomena like black hole collisions, and even estimate the odds of sports events assigning the Dodgers a 21.6% chance to win the 2025 World Series.

Beyond entertainment and science, Grok 4 handles tasks such as writing, coding, voice processing, and academic analysis. Its future applications may extend into fields like robotics, education, and productivity.

Performance benchmarks highlight Grok 4’s power:

  • Humanity’s Last Exam (HLE): Grok 4 scored 25.4% without tools beating Gemini 2.5 Pro and OpenAI’s o3. Using tools, the Heavy version reached 50.7%.

  • ARC-AGI-2: It became the first model to exceed 10%, scoring 16.2%.

  • GPQA: Scored 88.9% on graduate-level physics questions.

  • AIME 2025: Achieved a perfect 100%, a massive improvement from Grok 3’s 52.2%.

Other math and reasoning benchmarks also confirm its advanced understanding, especially at PhD-level difficulty.

In terms of pricing, Grok is available in two tiers:

  • SuperGrok: $30/month or $300/year.

  • Super Grok Heavy: Designed for enterprise needs, it costs $300/month or $3,000/year.

These models include features such as:

  • Advanced reasoning across disciplines like physics and engineering.

  • Multimodal understanding (text, image, audio, and future video).

  • Real-time awareness through integration with X.

How to Access and What’s Next

Accessing Grok 4 is simple and versatile:

  • On X (formerly Twitter): Log in to X.com, subscribe, and begin interacting with Grok 4 directly.

  • Via xAI API: Developers can request access via the xAI API website to get an API key and full documentation.

  • Mobile App: The Grok app is available on Google Play and Apple App Store. Users can engage via voice or text after logging in.

Looking ahead, xAI plans several upgrades. Grok 4 is expected to soon support video input and generation. Additionally, coding tools and developer frameworks are in development. Integration into Tesla vehicles will make Grok 4 a real-time driving companion. Most importantly, xAI’s long-term goal remains the pursuit of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI).

If Grok continues evolving at this pace, it may soon become not only smarter but more intuitive and possibly more human-like than any AI that came before.
