Space42 Launches Thuraya MBH for Secure Global Connectivity

Thuraya MBH satellite terminal placed outdoors for remote communication in rugged environments

Space42 (ADX: SPACE42), a UAE-based AI-powered SpaceTech company integrating satellite communications, geospatial analytics, and artificial intelligence, has announced the commercial release of the Thuraya Mobile Broadband Hotspot (Thuraya MBH). This compact, secure, and cost-effective broadband terminal extends vital communications to users on the move, especially in remote areas.

Although connectivity demands are growing worldwide, many regions on both land and sea remain uncovered by terrestrial networks. As a result, the lack of access can delay emergency responses, disrupt essential operations, and put lives at risk. To address these challenges, Thuraya MBH provides an easy-to-deploy solution that offers dependable satellite coverage across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Central Asia.

Designed to run on the existing Thuraya satellite network, MBH is also fully compatible with the upcoming Thuraya-4 satellite. Notably, Thuraya-4 ranks among the largest and most advanced mobile satellite solutions (MSS) ever developed. Furthermore, MBH is the first of over 15 new Thuraya-4-compatible products that will serve both public and private sector markets.

Sulaiman Al Ali, Chief Commercial Officer, Space Services at Space42, said, “Thuraya MBH ensures critical communications remain operational in environments where terrestrial networks cannot reach. This terminal integrates satellite mobility with existing infrastructure, providing reliable connectivity for civil government and commercial users across land and sea. From emergency response teams operating in remote locations to maritime vessels beyond coastal coverage, MBH delivers secure communications when conventional networks fail. The platform addresses real operational challenges while maintaining the robust security standards essential for mission-critical applications. This launch also advances two of Space42’s strategic pillars: being a global Non-Terrestrial-Network (NTN) leader and being a trusted leader in secure connectivity.”

Optimized for Mobility, Simplicity, and Mission Readiness

Thuraya MBH is purpose-built for simplicity in operation and resilience in the field. The all-in-one unit delivers satellite connectivity to vehicles and vessels operating outside the range of ground-based networks. Thanks to its minimal setup time and rugged construction, users can rely on MBH in dynamic, high-stakes environments.

In practical terms, MBH enables reliable communications during maritime operations transitioning in and out of cellular zones. It is also indispensable during emergency missions in areas with no network access. Additionally, it supports a variety of applications such as push-to-talk (PTT), email, file transfer, remote asset monitoring, and IoT integration.

The terminal’s versatility makes it ideal for civil government agencies, coastal patrols, remote utility teams, and border security units. Maritime use cases include fishing fleets, ferries, bulk cargo ships, yachts, and uncrewed surface vessels (USVs). For all of these, uninterrupted satellite communication is essential.

Because MBH meets IP67/IP68 durability standards, it can endure tough environmental conditions. The unit also features built-in capabilities like GPS tracking, geofencing, and emergency alerts when integrated with third-party systems. Importantly, its security architecture includes SIM pairing, PIN protection, firewall management, and multi-level access control making it suitable for sectors requiring strict compliance.

Affordable, Secure Connectivity Available Now

To enhance user accessibility, Thuraya MBH offers affordable data plans, a clean user interface, and support for 15 languages. Moreover, it is built to integrate seamlessly with external systems, enabling remote fleet and asset management in real-time.

An emergency fallback feature also allows users to send text-based emails during complete network outages, ensuring communication continuity. This capability further enhances the device’s utility in emergency or mission-critical scenarios.

Thuraya MBH is now commercially available through authorized Thuraya service partners, beginning June 19, 2025.
