New Jersey, UAE Sign Deal to Enhance Gaming Security

New Jersey and UAE sign agreement to boost gaming security and consumer protection.

New Jersey and the United Arab Emirates have taken a major step to improve online gaming. They signed a collaborative agreement to enhance cybersecurity, promote responsible gaming, and drive innovation. The agreement was formalised between New Jersey’s Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) and the UAE’s General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA) during Governor Phil Murphy’s visit to the UAE.

Governor Murphy highlighted the agreement’s commitment to creating safer and more advanced gaming ecosystems. He also stressed that this partnership will strengthen international economic ties while ensuring consumer protection. With the rapid evolution of gaming technologies, this collaboration offers an opportunity to set global standards for regulation and security.

A Shared Vision for Responsible Gaming

The GCGRA, founded in September 2023, regulates commercial gaming in the UAE, overseeing activities like lotteries, internet gaming, and integrated resorts. While gambling remains illegal, the UAE permits certain forms of commercial gaming under strict supervision. The regulatory body’s goal is to promote responsible gaming and ensure consumer safety.

Kevin Mullally, CEO of GCGRA, explained that the agreement supports the UAE’s strategy for economic diversification. He also pointed out that the partnership merges innovation with regulation, creating new investment opportunities and enhancing tourism. The GCGRA is also an innovation hub, helping to develop safer gaming technologies and enforce best practices.

Additionally, the agreement is expected to set global standards for online safety and consumer protection in gaming.
