Artificial Intelligence’s analysis of the meaning of life may offer surprising results

In their new book, “What Makes Us Human: An Artificial Intelligence Answers Life’s Biggest Questions,” Iain Thomas, a poet, novelist, and new media artist, and Jasmine Wang, a technologist and philosopher, explore the intersection of creativity and technology. The book presents five key insights, including the following:

Artificial Intelligence as a New Form of Creativity: The authors argue that AI is a new form of creativity that is yet to be fully understood. They describe it as a “four-dimensional creativity” that is capable of coming up with its own ideas. The authors believe that AI has the potential to revolutionize creativity, much like the invention of the steam engine changed the world.

They believe that it is still too early to predict the full creative potential of AI, much like the Industrial Revolution could not be fully predicted by the invention of the steam engine alone. Artificial Intelligence (AI) has the potential to democratize creativity by allowing individuals who may not have had access to creative tools to create in ways they previously could not.

AI operates tirelessly without getting tired, requiring a break, or complaining, making it an efficient creative partner. While AI may not be a perfect creative companion, its ability to connect ideas in ways that humans may not have considered, makes it a valuable tool for creativity. However, it is important to acknowledge that AI’s output may sometimes be incoherent or unusable. Despite these limitations, the authors of the book “What Makes Us Human: An Artificial Intelligence Answers Life’s Biggest Questions,” Iain Thomas and Jasmine Wang, believe that the potential for AI in creativity is exciting.
