Xiaomi 18 Fold Launches With Leica Camera
Xiaomi has launched the Xiaomi 18 Fold in China, expanding its flagship foldable lineup with a wider design and upgraded hardware.
The new foldable features a 7.58-inch inner AMOLED display and a 5.38-inch cover screen. Both panels support a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 4,000-nit peak brightness. Moreover, Xiaomi has used a low-power Pol-less design for the inner display.
The Xiaomi 18 Fold starts at AED 6,019.75 for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage model. Meanwhile, the 12GB/512GB version costs AED 6,567.05. The 16GB/512GB model costs AED 7,114.35, while the 16GB/1TB variant costs AED 8,208.95.
Xiaomi also offers a Ceramic Special Edition with 16GB RAM and 1TB storage. This version costs AED 8,756.25. However, the company has not confirmed wider international availability.
Xiaomi 18 Fold brings Xring O3 chip
Under the hood, the Xiaomi 18 Fold uses Xiaomi’s 3nm deca-core Xring O3 AI flagship chipset. Buyers can also configure the phone with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage. The top model uses LPDDR6 memory.
The phone runs Android 17-based HyperOS 4. Therefore, Xiaomi is pairing its latest software with its in-house silicon and a foldable form factor. The device also supports 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC and dual Nano-SIM connectivity.
The foldable measures 5.02mm when unfolded and 10.68mm when folded. It weighs 219 grams. Xiaomi also fitted a 6,000mAh battery with 67W wired and 50W wireless charging.
The design follows a wider, shorter format intended to make the phone easier to handle. Xiaomi’s redesigned Dragon Bone hinge also underwent 492 structural optimizations, the company says.
Leica-backed 200-megapixel camera
Photography is another major focus of the Xiaomi 18 Fold. The phone carries a Leica-backed triple rear camera system led by a 200-megapixel main sensor. The primary camera features an f/1.7 aperture and optical image stabilization.
It also includes a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera. This lens offers 3.5x optical zoom and 7x optical-quality zoom. Additionally, a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera completes the rear setup.
Both the inner and outer displays include 16-megapixel selfie cameras. Meanwhile, the phone supports side-mounted fingerprint unlocking and face recognition. Stereo speakers, Dolby Atmos and spatial audio are also included.
Xiaomi has positioned the 18 Fold against other premium foldables, including Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 8. At the same time, its launch comes as Huawei introduces new foldables and Apple prepares to enter the segment.
For now, Xiaomi’s official launch is limited to China. Therefore, buyers outside China will need to wait for confirmed details on international availability and pricing.
