Meta’s WhatsApp Introduces New Service for UAE Users, Enhancing Communication and Convenience

Meta has introduced a WhatsApp new service UAE, tailored for users in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), enhancing communication and convenience. This development aligns with the UAE’s ongoing digital transformation efforts, aiming to provide residents with efficient and accessible services.
Historically, the UAE has imposed restrictions on Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) services, including WhatsApp voice and video calls, due to regulatory and security considerations. These measures were intended to maintain control over telecommunications and ensure compliance with national regulations. Consequently, residents often faced limitations in using certain internet-based communication platforms.
In response to the evolving digital landscape and the increasing demand for instant communication, various UAE government entities have adopted WhatsApp to enhance service delivery. For instance, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) launched a verified WhatsApp business account, becoming the first federal organization in the UAE to do so. This service allows users to access information such as the UAE Labour Law and its executive rules, governing labor relations in the private sector, available 24/7 in both English and Arabic.
Similarly, the Abu Dhabi Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) introduced a WhatsApp service for transport emergencies. Residents can subscribe to this 24-hour service by adding the designated number to their contacts and initiating communication by sending “hello.” This initiative facilitates direct interaction with the department, providing options to address various transport-related concerns promptly.
These advancements underscore the UAE’s commitment to leveraging technology to improve public services and enhance user experience. By integrating widely used platforms like WhatsApp, authorities aim to meet the communication preferences of residents, ensuring accessibility and efficiency. As digital communication continues to evolve, such initiatives reflect a proactive approach to adopting tools that resonate with the public, fostering a more connected and informed society.
