
Uber Technologies and WeRide have partnered with Dubai’s Road and Transport Authority (RTA) to introduce autonomous vehicles (AVs) in Dubai. This collaboration supports Dubai’s Self-Driving Transport Strategy, which aims to make 25% of all journeys autonomous by 2030.
His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of RTA, emphasized the significance of this partnership, stating:
“This collaboration with Uber and WeRide is a crucial step in advancing autonomous transport in Dubai. It aligns with our ongoing trials since 2016, which have expanded in scope and innovation over the years.”
Uber’s Vision for Autonomous Mobility in Dubai
Noah Zych, Uber’s Global Head of Autonomous Mobility and Delivery Operations, highlighted Uber’s commitment to integrating self-driving technology, saying:
“We’re thrilled to partner with RTA and WeRide to bring AVs to Dubai. Our goal is to commercialize and scale autonomous technology, providing riders with a reliable, forward-thinking mobility solution that aligns with Dubai’s smart city vision.”

WeRide’s Expansion into the UAE

WeRide successfully launched AV services in Abu Dhabi on Uber in December 2024, marking the first commercial rollout in the UAE.
