UAE Partners with MBZUAI to Train Agentic AI Workforce

UAE officials launch Agentic AI initiative

The UAE government has launched a strategic knowledge partnership with Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) to strengthen Agentic AI expertise across the federal workforce. The initiative aims to improve institutional readiness, build national talent, and support the responsible use of AI across ministries and government entities.

The agreement was signed in the presence of Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Chairman of the Agentic AI Project Executive Committee, and Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority and Chairman of MBZUAI’s Board of Trustees. Meanwhile, Ohood bint Khalfan Al Roumi, Minister of State for Government Development and the Future, and Eric Xing, President of MBZUAI, formally signed the partnership.

Training 80,000 Government Employees

The partnership supports a national program approved by the UAE Cabinet to train 80,000 federal employees in Agentic AI across all job categories. Additionally, the training will run through continuous specialized programs in collaboration with national universities and technology firms.

Al Gergawi said the UAE leadership continues to place people at the center of national development, describing human capital as the foundation of long-term progress. He added that the initiative reflects a government culture focused on continuous learning, stronger institutional preparedness, and sustainable workforce development.

Furthermore, the program also supports the UAE’s wider goal of transitioning 50 percent of government services and operations to Agentic AI technologies. Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak described the initiative as a major step in advancing the country’s national AI ambitions.

“Since the UAE’s founding, our leadership has held that people are the nation’s true wealth. Agentic AI reinforces this belief. A government powered by AI is built on far more than the technologies it holds. Its success rests on human competence, trained minds, sound judgement, and the values of the people who guide it,” Al Mubarak added.

Building the Next Generation of Public Services

Ohood bint Khalfan Al Roumi said the partnership aligns with leadership directives to integrate Agentic AI into government operations, procedures, and service delivery. She also described the collaboration as a practical model linking public institutions with leading academic expertise.

The program adopts a hands-on training approach, allowing employees to build, manage, and deploy Agentic AI tools in real government settings. Moreover, the curriculum includes AI transformation, responsible adoption, implementation strategies, and operational management.

The initiative also features executive AI capability programs tailored for senior government leaders. As a result, the UAE aims to accelerate AI-led transformation while preparing a future-ready public sector workforce.
