The UAE’s Thumbay Group has made plans to establish the first hospital in the Metaverse. The group will use augmented reality and virtual reality to create immersive remote consultations with doctors. Prospective patients from all over the world can review the facilities before selecting a health provider.
“We expect to launch it before October this year,” said Dr Thumbay Moideen, founder and president of Thumbay Group. This will be a fully virtual hospital where patients will arrive with an avatar and consult with a doctor. To cater to medical tourism, patients will be able to see what the hospital looks like in the metaverse if they travel to Thumbay healthcare facility.
