Sony Launches WF-1000XM6 With Next-Gen Noise Cancelling

Sony has expanded its flagship noise-cancelling lineup with the launch of the WF-1000XM6 truly wireless earbuds. At the same time, the brand has introduced a Sand Pink colorway for its over-ear WH-1000XM6 headphones.

Building on the 1000X legacy, the WF-1000XM6 arrives in Black and Platinum Silver, while the WH-1000XM6 gains a soft Sand Pink finish. Together, these updates focus on quieter listening, clearer calls, stronger connectivity, and a more refined fit.

Smarter noise cancelling and richer sound

First, Sony raises the bar on silence. The WF-1000XM6 delivers a claimed 25% improvement in noise reduction over its predecessor, while also targeting mid-to-high frequencies that dominate cafés, traffic, and aircraft cabins. Moreover, four microphones per earbud now work with the HD Noise Cancelling Processor QN3e for tighter control of ambient sound.

Meanwhile, the Integrated Processor V2 continuously analyzes external noise and wearing conditions. As a result, the earbuds adapt in real time to ear shape and fit, which helps reduce sound leakage and keeps performance consistent.

Next, audio quality sees a clear lift. Enhanced DAC amplification and 32-bit processing bring higher resolution playback. In addition, a newly developed driver combines a soft edge for deeper bass with a rigid dome for cleaner highs. Consequently, distortion drops while detail improves across the spectrum.

Alongside this hardware, the WF-1000XM6 supports Hi-Res Audio Wireless, DSEE Extreme, 360 Reality Audio compatibility, head tracking, Background Music Effect, and a customizable 10-band EQ through Sony’s Sound Connect app. Therefore, listeners can fine-tune sound to match both content and mood.

Clearer calls, better fit, and everyday comfort

Equally important, call quality has been upgraded. Dual microphones and bone-conduction sensors on each side feed an AI beamforming system that isolates speech. Even so, background conversations and street noise fade into the background, which keeps voices intelligible during calls.

At the same time, Sony reshaped the earbuds for comfort. The new body is about 11% slimmer, and it follows the natural curves of the inner ear more closely. As a result, pressure points are reduced during long listening sessions. Furthermore, a revised ventilation structure cuts internal noises such as footsteps and chewing.

Noise Isolation Earbud Tips now come in four sizes, so users can secure a proper seal more easily. Meanwhile, the charging case opens smoothly with one hand, and the earbuds lift out with less effort. Distinct surface textures also separate the finishes, with Black leaning understated and Platinum Silver feeling lighter and more airy.

Connectivity, battery life, and sustainability

Beyond sound and comfort, daily usability improves. The WF-1000XM6 features larger antennas and updated algorithms, so wireless connections stay more stable. In addition, LE Audio support brings ultra-low latency, which benefits gaming and video playback.

Battery life reaches up to eight hours on a single charge and up to 24 hours with the case. Moreover, Qi wireless charging adds convenience for desk or bedside top-ups. Scene-based listening, Adaptive Sound Control, Quick Access, voice assistance, and Google Gemini integration round out the feature set.

Finally, Sony continues its environmental push. About 25% of the plastics used in the earbuds come from circular materials, while the packaging is plastic-free.

Meanwhile, the WH-1000XM6 gains a Sand Pink option, joining Black, Platinum Silver, and Midnight Blue. Because many users now treat headphones as part of their wardrobe, this softer tone offers a more fashion-forward alternative without changing performance.

Availability in the UAE begins March 4, 2026, for the WF-1000XM6 in Black and Platinum Silver and for the WH-1000XM6 in Sand Pink.
