SmartCare CureAssure Approved Under Dubai Building Code standards

SmartCare CureAssure admixture approved for sustainable concrete under Dubai Building Code.

The International Code Council Evaluation Service (ICC-ES) has issued Evaluation Service Report ESR-5402 for SmartCare CureAssure, a next-generation internal curing admixture by Asian Paints. This chloride-free liquid admixture, classified as a Type S admixture, is designed to enhance concrete durability by retaining internal moisture. As a result, the need for conventional external curing is reduced.

This recognition marks a milestone for sustainable construction in the region. SmartCare CureAssure is the first internal curing product to comply with the Dubai Building Code (DBC) and is now officially approved by Dubai Municipality. The product was evaluated under ICC-ES Acceptance Criteria AC564, specifically developed for internal curing concrete admixtures.

In regions where concrete dominates the building landscape, SmartCare CureAssure offers a practical solution. Not only does it improve durability and strength, but it also reduces water consumption, thus supporting the region’s environmental goals.

A Boost for Green Construction Standards

Mohamed Amer, Managing Director of ICC MENA, stated: “We are proud to support the advancement of sustainable and resilient construction practices through the issuance of this ESR. By validating innovative systems such as SmartCare CureAssure against rigorous code requirements, ICC-ES is helping pave the way for a safer, more efficient, and environmentally responsible construction future one that aligns with the GCC’s long-term development goals.”

This evaluation sets a strong precedent for future adoption of sustainable technologies. It shows that through credible, third-party technical validation, innovative materials can gain official approval and build industry confidence. Moreover, this provides manufacturers, regulators, and developers with new tools for reducing environmental impact while improving efficiency.

Industry Voices Support the Advancement

Commenting on this success, Joseph Eapen, CEO of Asian Paints International Private Ltd, stated: “This achievement reflects our commitment to delivering high-performance, sustainable solutions for the construction sector. Having ICC-ES independently verify the performance of our system for compliance with the DBC reinforces our dedication to innovation and environmental stewardship.”
