Saudi Arabia Secures Global Leadership in Data and AI for 2024
Saudi Arabia, under the leadership of the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), has solidified its position as a global leader in data and AI for 2024. The Kingdom achieved first place globally in areas such as the Government Strategy for AI Pillar, the Open Government Data Index (OGDI), and the ISO/IEC 42001 certification for AI management systems.
Regionally, Saudi Arabia ranked first in the E-Government Development Index (EGDI) and led the Middle East in the Global AI Index, securing 14th place globally. These accomplishments reflect the Kingdom’s commitment to ethical AI practices, innovative data capabilities, and fostering national expertise to drive its digital transformation.
Key initiatives include the development of the “ALLaM” generative AI model for Arabic, which has trained on over 385 billion Arabic words, and the “EYENAI” medical project, which has advanced early diagnosis of diabetic retinopathy, benefiting hundreds of patients. SDAIA’s unified national access system (Nafath) and the “Tawakkalna” application have also contributed to financial savings exceeding SAR2 billion and provided over 350 digital services to citizens and residents.
With projects like the National Data Bank (NDB), “Ehsan” charitable platform, and “Deem” government cloud, Saudi Arabia continues to set benchmarks in digital transformation and AI-driven innovation.
