Saudi Arabia Aspires to Become a Global Data Export Hub

Saudi Arabia has announced ambitious plans to transform itself into a global hub for data exports, aiming to treat data centers within the Kingdom with the same level of protection as embassies. Finance Minister Mohammed Al Jadaan emphasized the Kingdom’s commitment to safeguarding sovereign data and addressing concerns from European and American stakeholders.

“We are working on creating a regulatory framework to ensure data centers in Saudi Arabia receive full protection,” Al Jadaan stated during an event. “Our goal is to position Saudi Arabia as a key player in the global data economy, where data replaces oil as a valuable export.”

The initiative is a cornerstone of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 strategy, which seeks to diversify its economy beyond oil and establish the country as a leader in the digital and technological sectors. The Kingdom plans to leverage its competitive advantages, offering energy resources and advanced infrastructure to attract global players and encourage them to utilize Saudi Arabia for data storage and exports.
