Saudi Arabia has rolled out an expansive new initiative aimed at preparing its citizens for an increasingly AI-driven world. Announced at the Global AI Summit (GAIN Summit 2024) in Riyadh, the ‘One Million Saudi in AI’ program is set to be the largest AI training effort in the Kingdom’s history.
The initiative was officially launched by Minister of Education Yousef bin Abdullah Al-Benyan and Abdullah bin Sharaf Alghamdi, the President of the Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA).
According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the program is a collaborative effort involving the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, reflecting a unified approach to advancing the country’s AI capabilities.
The ‘One Million Saudi in AI’ program aims to train one million Saudi citizens, providing them with comprehensive education on artificial intelligence. The curriculum will include critical areas such as AI applications, ethical considerations in AI, and the necessary skills for integrating AI into various aspects of business and daily life. This initiative is part of Saudi Arabia’s broader vision to become a leader in technological innovation and AI.
The program is designed to be inclusive, with training opportunities available to all citizens, regardless of gender. The emphasis will be on promoting the safe and effective use of AI, ensuring that participants are well-prepared to utilize AI technologies responsibly.
