Samsung is ready to unveil its seventh generation of foldable smartphones during the Galaxy Unpacked July 2025 event, streaming globally on Wednesday, July 9, from 7:30 PM IST. This year, Samsung is emphasizing Galaxy AI, integrating generative AI to improve multitasking and productivity.
The company is expected to introduce three new devices: the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, and possibly a brand-new model, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 Ultra. If this Ultra model debuts, it would mark a new direction for the lineup.
Performance-wise, the new foldables are likely to feature an enhanced Snapdragon 8 Elite processor. Additionally, they may come with up to 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of internal storage. These devices are also expected to run One UI 8, Samsung’s latest custom skin based on Android 16, offering a smoother and smarter user experience.
Upgrades in Camera, Battery, and Display
A 200 MP main camera is anticipated, matching the quality found in Samsung’s Ultra series. However, the telephoto lens might not receive any major updates. While the selfie camera may not be a major focus, Samsung could still improve the inner front lens.
Battery capacity has often been a concern with Samsung foldables. This time, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 could feature a 5,000 mAh battery, while the Flip 7 might offer 4,700 mAh. As usual, the charger will not be included in the box. Battery details for the rumored Ultra or FE variants remain unconfirmed, but further announcements may clarify these specs.
As for displays, the Fold 7 may come with a 7.9-inch internal screen and a 6.5-inch external panel. The Flip 7 is expected to retain its current screen dimensions, with no significant changes.
Additional Launches and Competition Ahead
Alongside its foldable lineup, Samsung is also likely to launch the Galaxy Watch 8 series, possibly in base and classic variants. These smartwatches will add to the brand’s growing wearable ecosystem.
Samsung’s new foldables will enter a competitive market, going head-to-head with Vivo’s foldables, Motorola’s flip phones, and Google’s bending devices. With a focus on premium hardware and AI-powered features, Samsung aims to maintain its leadership in the foldable phone segment.
