Saudi Arabia has introduced the “Riyadh Declaration” at the 19th session of the Internet Governance Forum (IGF Riyadh 2024), an event organized by the United Nations and hosted in Riyadh. This forum seeks to advance international collaboration on digital policies among governments, private enterprises, non-profit organizations, entrepreneurs, and innovators globally.
Leadership Support
The declaration was unveiled with the strong backing of HRH Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman. H.E. Abdullah Alswaha, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, emphasized that the Riyadh Declaration focuses on artificial intelligence (AI) as a force for inclusivity, innovation, and positive global impact.
AI at the Core
The declaration highlights AI’s potential to bridge digital divides, improve digital literacy, and address pressing global challenges. It outlines the transformative role AI can play in fostering sustainable development, protecting the environment, enhancing public health, and driving economic inclusion.
A Visionary Approach to AI
Minister Alswaha underscored Saudi Arabia’s proactive leadership in the AI sector, championed by HRH Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, whose vision is firmly rooted in benefiting humanity and preserving the planet. This commitment aligns with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 strategy, which positions Saudi Arabia as a leader in global digital transformation.
