Opera launches Neon Browser with Built-in Agentic AI Features

Opera Neon browser interface showcasing AI features for smarter web interactions.

Opera has introduced a new web browser named Neon, built to transform how people interact with the internet. Unlike conventional browsers, Neon integrates agentic AI capabilities from the ground up. As a result, it assists users with advanced digital tasks like coding, shopping, and filling out forms. While the browser will eventually be offered via a subscription model, pricing has not been announced. Currently, those interested can join a waitlist.

Opera describes Neon as an “agentic browser,” meaning it is designed to interpret user intent and actively assist in achieving digital objectives. This innovation marks a shift in how browsers function—not merely displaying content but participating in tasks. To enhance usability, Neon includes three main features: Chat, Do, and Make. These are easily accessible through sidebar buttons, promoting a fluid and interactive experience.

A Closer Look at Neon’s AI Tools

The Chat feature serves as a built-in conversational assistant. It helps users search, summarizes web content, and answers questions based on page context. Because it supports voice and multiple languages, it offers accessibility across different user needs. Notably, it also provides real-time answers and allows for image generation and analysis.

Next is Do, which is powered by Opera’s Browser Operator AI, introduced earlier this year. This function helps users execute practical tasks like booking trips or completing online forms. It runs locally on users’ devices, which boosts both privacy and speed. Since it minimizes reliance on cloud processing, Do maintains performance without compromising user data.

Finally, the Make feature allows for creative execution using a cloud-based virtual machine. This means tasks can continue in the background or even when offline. With simple text prompts, users can generate websites, games, and code. Because multiple workflows can run simultaneously, it supports complex multitasking scenarios effectively.

While Opera leads this AI browser shift, it’s not alone. Companies like Google and the Browser Company are also advancing AI-powered web tools. However, with features that blend functionality, automation, and user control, Neon may set a new benchmark in browser innovation.
