Microsoft Launches Copilot Vision Feature for Windows users

Microsoft has officially launched Copilot Vision for Windows in the U.S., expanding the functionality of its AI assistant. This new feature allows users to share their screens or specific apps so Copilot can provide real-time guidance. Whether navigating features or exploring webpages, the assistant is now more interactive.

To activate Copilot Vision, users must click a glasses icon and select the browser window or app to share. Once enabled, the assistant can begin offering contextual help. This update enhances the existing Copilot assistant, which already supports a variety of user tasks.

Notably, Microsoft began testing this feature earlier in the year. Now, it is freely available to users running Windows 10 or 11 in the U.S. The tool promises hands-on support in different scenarios—from gaming tips and photo enhancements to trip planning.

Enhanced Support With “Highlights” Feature

“With Highlights, you can go a step further and ask Copilot ‘show me how’ for a specific task and it will show you within the app where to click and what to do. Altogether, Copilot can be by your side giving you tips while playing a game, viewing your photo and showing you how to improve the lighting to make it perfect, or reviewing your travel itinerary to let you know if your packing list is sufficient based on your destination,” the Copilot team said in a blog.

This hands-on approach aims to streamline user experience. For example, when someone is uncertain about a function, Copilot highlights the steps directly on the screen. Therefore, users can complete tasks more efficiently without needing to search for external tutorials.

Security Concerns Surface Amid Launch

Just a day before the rollout, researchers discovered a flaw in Copilot that could potentially be used to extract user data. This finding has reignited discussions about the vulnerabilities tied to AI assistants. Although the feature shows promise, it serves as a reminder that security must keep pace with innovation.

Nonetheless, Microsoft appears committed to refining the Copilot experience. As the technology develops, users can expect more powerful, yet hopefully safer, features in future updates.
