MECON-2022 hosted by Amity University discusses emerging trends & innovations

Reportedly, the International Mobile and Embedded Technology Conference, MECON-2022, hosted by Amity School of Engineering and Technology, Amity University, Noida, brought together academics, industry experts and researchers to discuss emerging trends and innovations, share research results and find new directions in the field of next-generation technologies.

The theme of the virtual conference was ‘Evolution in Smart Appliances and Devices’.

Over 40 distinguished international experts and speakers from the US, UK, Australia, Canada, France, Malaysia, Germany, Sweden, Singapore, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, UAE and India and Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) fellows of leading universities in India and abroad took part in the conference.

More than 350 research papers were presented by researchers and scholars of Amity University and technical sessions were held on topics such as ‘A Novel Learning Automaton-Based Controller Placement Scheme for Software-Defined Network Systems’, ‘Artificial Intelligence: Changing the landscape we live today, ‘Deep Learning Acceleration Techniques for Embedded and Mobile Visual Applications’, ‘Information Dynamics — Integrating information and systems’ and ‘Novel Wireless Sensor Network Protocols’, were held, among others.

Saifur Rahman, Joseph Loring professor and director at Virginia Tech Advanced Research Institute, Arlington, Virginia, USA, addressed the inaugural session.

“The conference will be extremely significant in highlighting the tremendous advances made in mobile communications and embedded systems technology, combined with rapid evolution in smart appliances and devices. It will emphasise the new challenges and problems requiring interaction between different network layers and applications to offer advanced services. Amity University has the most diverse presence in the world and the theme of the Conference is very relevant as it brings the Industrial revolution to the forefront of research,” said Rahman, 2022 IEEE president-elect and the chief guest.

Kazuya Kobayachi of Chuo University, Tokyo, and an honorary professor at Amity University, said the conference would help identify the remarkable advancements in mobile communications and embedded systems technology. “I am certain that the conference will be highly successful in making path-breaking advancement in the field of technology,” Kobayachi said.

Satish K. Singh, associate dean (IRGL), IIIT Allahabad, and chairman of IEEE UP Section, thanked Amity for its support during the pandemic. ”New initiatives such as Graduate Talk, Industrial Internship Programme and Star of the Programme have been introduced to encourage young talent and various mega-events are also being organised by the IEEE UP Section,” Singh said.

Balvinder Shukla, the vice-chancellor of Amity University, Uttar Pradesh, said MECON 2022 aimed to provide a forum for researchers, academics and industrialists to address and network on a range of emerging trends, innovations, research, and latest developments in the field of mobile, embedded computing and communication systems. “The conference will enable us to collaborate with other scientists of the world and reinforce our focus on research and innovation. We must look at a symbiotic, synergetic and mutually beneficial relationship in the field of science and technology by encouraging innovative ideas and solutions to technological problems,” Shukla said.

Ashok Agrawala of the University of Maryland, US; Manos M. Tentzeris of Georgia Institute of Technology, US; Timothy O Farrell of University of Sheffield, UK; Anthony Ghiotto of Bordeaux Institute of Technology, France; and Giulio Antonini of University of L’Aquila, Italy; were conferred with honorary professorship by Amity University.

The conference was co-sponsored by IEEE, IEEE UP Section (India), IEEE Antenna and Propagation Society & IEEE Technical Council on RFID, IEEE Delhi Section.
