Vertiv, a global provider of critical digital infrastructure and continuity solutions, has unveiled the new Vertiv Liebert PDX-PAM direct expansion perimeter units. These units feature low global warming potential (GWP) and non-flammable R513A refrigerant. Available now in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), the system operates with an eco-friendly refrigerant. It offers increased efficiency, reliability, and maximum installation flexibility.
The Liebert PDX-PAM helps data centre owners comply with the EU F-Gas Regulation 2024/573 and achieve sustainability goals. The non-flammable R513A refrigerant reduces GWP by up to 70% compared to traditional R410A, without compromising safety or reliability. No additional safety devices are needed, reducing installation costs and capital expenditure (CAPEX).
“In an era where efficiency and reliability are paramount, we recognize the need for eco-friendly alternatives to stay ahead of regulatory requirements and provide state-of-the-art innovations,” said Karsten Winther, president of Vertiv in EMEA. “With this new solution, we’re also addressing current sustainability objectives; we’re actively innovating and advancing the future of cooling technology.”
Liebert PDX-PAM is available from 10 kW to 80 kW with various airflow configurations, options, and accessories. This additionally makes the unit adaptable to small and medium data centres, edge computing applications, UPS, and battery rooms. Depending on the specific system configuration, a range of cooling solutions are available for managing external heat rejection,
Vertiv is leading in innovation with Liebert PDX-PAM, featuring low-GWP, non-flammable R513A refrigerant. It is an inverter-driven brushless motor compressor and electronically commutated (EC) fans. The integrated Vertiv Liebert iCOM controller ensures seamless synchronization, allowing complete performance modulation. This significantly reduces annual power consumption, offering a cost-effective solution with enhanced part-load efficiency. It also provides precise monitoring for timely and effective maintenance.
“The introduction of low GWP refrigerants for direct expansion systems marks a significant advancement in sustainable air-cooling technology,” added Lucas Beran, research director at Dell’Oro Group. Vertiv’s innovation helps data centre operators achieve sustainability goals while maintaining high operational standards.
