Google Expands Gemini Voice Tools Across Workspace
Google has started rolling out new Gemini-powered voice features for Gmail, Google Docs and Google Keep. The tools let users search, draft and organize information through natural speech.
The new tools include Gmail Live, Docs Live and Keep Live. Together, they bring conversational AI directly into Google Workspace applications.
Gmail Live Searches Emails by Voice
Gmail Live lets users ask questions about information stored in their inbox. For example, users can ask about flight details or upcoming school events. Gemini then searches relevant emails and provides an answer.
As a result, users can avoid manually opening multiple conversations to locate specific information. The feature is especially useful when typing or navigating an inbox is inconvenient.
Meanwhile, Gmail Live is available on both iOS and Android. Google has made it available to subscribers of its AI Plus, Pro and Ultra plans.
Docs Live Turns Speech Into Documents
Docs Live focuses on writing and document creation. Users can speak through an idea, while Gemini organizes the discussion into a structured document.
Moreover, Docs Live can use information from Gmail, Google Drive, Google Chat and the web when users grant permission. This allows the feature to build documents with relevant context rather than relying only on spoken input.
The tool can therefore help users move from brainstorming to a first draft through conversation. Google describes it as a hands-free writing partner that can also help structure ideas and refine tone.
However, access differs from Gmail Live. Docs Live currently requires a Google AI Pro or Ultra subscription.
Keep Live Organizes Spoken Ideas
Keep Live brings similar voice interaction to Google’s note-taking application. Users can speak freely about an idea, task or list, and Gemini can turn the input into organized notes.
As a result, users can capture thoughts without typing them manually. The feature can also turn unstructured speech into lists and more actionable notes.
Google is rolling out Keep Live to Google AI Plus, Pro and Ultra subscribers, although availability varies by platform. Meanwhile, Google Workspace business customers will receive these voice capabilities later.
The rollout reflects Google’s broader effort to place Gemini directly inside everyday productivity tools. Instead of requiring users to open a separate AI service, the company is integrating conversational assistance into applications they already use.
