FIFA announces players in the world cup will receive an analysis app

With a new World Cup application, soccer’s global governing body continues to modernize its operations online.

Every player at the Fifa World Cup in Qatar will easily access their performance data thanks to a dedicated mobile application.

World soccer’s governing body will use manual and automated techniques to collect and analyze match events, tracking data and physical performance metrics from each match.

Following the final whistle, each player receives information and media synced with match footage and still photos.

Players may use this information to evaluate their performance or to interact with fans on social media by posting match photographs and information. This will increase interest in the event underway on November 20.

According to Johannes Holzmüller, director of football technology and innovation for FIFA, “for the first time at a FIFA World Cup, not only the participating teams but also all players will have the opportunity to get direct access to their performance data and the related video clips after each match.”

“This player-centric development is based on direct player feedback and is another wonderful example of how FIFA is utilizing technology to the fullest extent possible by enhancing the football experience for the main players on the pitch,” according to a release from FIFA.

Players are becoming more interested in learning about their performance statistics and becoming more aware of the importance and sensitivity of this information. As a result, FIFA and the international players’ union FIFPRO created a player data rights charter to guarantee privacy under regulations like the European general data protection law (GDPR).

According to Simon Colosimo, deputy general secretary of FIFPRO, “players have clearly expressed to us that they want more access and profit from the acquisition of their data.” The FIFA Player App is a successful conclusion that will activate personal data rights and offer new resources for players at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, especially when combined with the charter of player data rights revealed earlier this week.

We anticipate that FIFa and FIFPRO’s collaborative work on player data will continue to help male and female players in various ways, including health and performance, in-game technology, and matchday experience.

The application was tested in the Arab Cup.

The application, which just debuted to the World Cup participating teams, was tested during the recent Doha-hosted team’s workshop and allowed players from various teams to access data on their performance.

According to Johannes Holzmueller, FIFA Director of Innovation and Football Technology, “participating teams, as well as all players, will have direct access to their performance data and related videos after each match.” This is a groundbreaking example of how FIFA utilizes cutting-edge technology to enhance the football experience for the game’s most important players while on the field.

This innovation is the first tangible result of the existing cooperation between FIFA and FIFPRO to develop standards and best practices for the collection, protection, and use of personal performance data of players, as the two bodies are working to create a charter of footballers’ data rights to develop these standards, with players transparently informed of their rights related to privacy following what is stipulated in applicable legislation, such as the European General Data Protection Regulation.

According to Simon Colosimo, Deputy Secretary-General of FIFPRO, “the players have made it very plain to us that they want to access and profit from more data on their performance.” improving players’ rights to their data and giving them access to new tools for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar in 2022.

“We also anticipate that the cooperative efforts between FIFA and FIFPRO on player data will continue to provide everything that would assist the players in a variety of areas, including health, performance, game-related technology, and matchday atmosphere,” he added.
