Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), in collaboration with e &, has equipped all 259 of its intercity buses with free Wi-Fi. This new service connects passengers traveling between Dubai and other emirates, including Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Ajman, and Fujairah.
By offering this digital upgrade, RTA aims to make long-distance bus journeys more productive and enjoyable. Now, passengers can browse the web, manage personal tasks, or work remotely during their commute. Whether using smartphones, tablets, or laptops, travellers can stay connected throughout their trip.
Supporting a Smarter, More Connected UAE
This initiative is a key part of RTA’s wider plan to accelerate digital transformation in public transport. It aligns with the UAE Digital Government Strategy and Dubai’s ambition to be the world’s smartest and happiest city.
Because technology plays a vital role in everyday life, RTA continues to explore innovations that enhance commuter experiences. While digital tools improve convenience, they also support the government’s long-term vision for inclusive, efficient mobility.
Monitoring Service Quality and Future Plans
The Wi-Fi service will be continually assessed in collaboration with e & to maintain high connectivity standards. As part of its commitment to innovation, RTA is also considering similar upgrades for marine transport across Dubai.
With initiatives like these, Dubai reinforces its role as a leader in smart mobility. While more updates are expected, this move already marks a significant step toward integrated, tech-driven public transport.
