DEWA Urges Dubai Households to Prevent Utility Waste Before Summer Travel

DEWA smart energy monitoring

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has encouraged residential customers to take simple steps before traveling this summer to improve electricity and water efficiency, reduce waste, and identify potential issues early. As part of its “Enjoy Sustainable Vibes This Summer” campaign, the utility recommends using its digital services to monitor consumption remotely during holidays.

Customers can use DEWA’s Away Mode through the website or smart app to receive daily or weekly electricity and water usage reports by email. As a result, they can quickly detect unusual consumption patterns and respond before small issues become costly problems.

Before leaving home, DEWA also advises residents to turn off the main water supply, inspect internal plumbing connections, and schedule maintenance for electricity and water systems through qualified technicians. Additionally, the DEWA Store within the smart app helps customers find trusted maintenance service providers.

Smart Features Help Detect Leaks and Reduce Energy Waste

Residents should unplug electrical appliances instead of leaving them on standby to reduce unnecessary power consumption. Furthermore, regular cleaning of air-conditioning filters and keeping doors and windows tightly closed can improve cooling efficiency during the summer months. Where practical, households are also encouraged to install solar-powered water heaters to support sustainable energy use.

To prevent water waste and property damage, DEWA recommends regularly inspecting water tanks, taps, heaters, and internal pipe connections. Moreover, customers should repair any leaks immediately after detection to avoid higher water consumption and unnecessary expenses.

The utility’s High-Water Usage Alert uses smart meter technology to send instant notifications whenever unusual water consumption occurs downstream of the meter. Consequently, customers can identify possible leaks quickly and take corrective action before significant damage occurs.

Smart Living Tools Promote Sustainable Consumption

DEWA also encourages customers to explore its Smart Living initiative, which provides detailed insights into electricity and water bills, tariff slabs, and daily, weekly, and monthly consumption patterns. Therefore, residents can better understand their usage habits and make informed decisions to reduce energy and water consumption.

Throughout the summer, DEWA will continue sharing conservation tips and practical guidance through its website and official social media channels. These efforts aim to encourage responsible resource consumption while supporting Dubai’s long-term sustainability goals.
