DEWA and IBM Strengthen Cooperation in AI and Cybersecurity

A recent meeting between senior representatives focused on exploring new opportunities for collaboration in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and digital transformation. The discussions aligned with Dubai’s broader vision to build a competitive, knowledge-based digital economy. Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO, welcomed a high-level delegation led by Ana Paula De Jesus Assis, Senior Vice President and Chair of IBM EMEA. The meeting also included key executives from the organisation’s innovation, business development, and digital divisions, alongside its Chief Information Security Officer.

During the session, Al Tayer explained that the partnership aims to strengthen strategic cooperation with leading global technology firms. He noted that adopting the latest AI and cybersecurity solutions supports the objectives of the Dubai Economic Agenda ‘D33.’ Moreover, he stressed that these efforts would help consolidate Dubai’s position among the world’s top digital economies. By investing in cutting-edge technologies, the organisation intends to build a sustainable future that prioritises knowledge and innovation.

Driving AI Transformation and Innovation

Al Tayer highlighted ongoing initiatives to transform the utility into the world’s first AI-native organisation by embedding artificial intelligence across all its core operations. This approach ensures greater efficiency, faster response to market needs, and improved customer engagement. Furthermore, the integration of AI-driven analytics allows teams to predict challenges before they arise, thereby ensuring reliable and resilient service delivery.

The two sides also reviewed existing collaborations between Moro, the digital arm of the organisation, and IBM. Moro has adopted IBM’s advanced QRadar system to reinforce its Cybersecurity Operations Centre and safeguard its digital infrastructure. As an IBM-certified Managed Services Partner, Moro provides Security Operations Centre as a Service solutions, helping clients react swiftly to cyber threats while maintaining constant preventive monitoring.

Exploring New AI Opportunities

The meeting concluded with discussions on expanding cooperation to include AI applications using the IBM Watson platform. This expansion aims to enhance operational performance, elevate customer experiences, and accelerate digital transformation across multiple sectors. As both parties move forward, they plan to focus on scalable AI solutions that can drive innovation and support Dubai’s ambition to become a global leader in smart technology.
