Dell has introduced the PowerEdge XE7740, the first integrated server featuring Intel Gaudi 3 PCIe accelerators. This 4U powerhouse is engineered to deliver exceptional AI acceleration while ensuring flexibility and scalability for enterprise workloads. By combining the integration simplicity of the PowerEdge R-Series with the raw performance of the XE-Series, it creates a new benchmark for AI-ready infrastructure.
The XE7740 supports up to eight double-wide or PCIe accelerators, allowing businesses to tailor configurations for various AI workloads. It can host up to eight individual Gaudi 3 accelerators or two sets of four bridged accelerators. This 4-way bridging achieves a throughput of 1,200 GBps using 18x 200GbE interfaces with RDMA over Converged Ethernet (RoCE v2). Consequently, the system ensures ultra-fast accelerator-to-accelerator communication, ideal for training larger AI models and managing complex workflows.
Beyond raw compute capability, the XE7740 integrates flexible networking, maintaining a 1:1 ratio of accelerators to NICs through eight full-height PCIe slots and an OCP networking module. Designed to operate efficiently in 10kW racks, it optimizes power usage without sacrificing performance, addressing real-world data center limitations.
Seamless AI Integration for Enterprise Workflows
The PowerEdge XE7740 is built for effortless integration into existing air-cooled rack systems, featuring Dell’s Smart Cooling technology for energy efficiency. Supporting up to eight Gaudi 3 PCIe accelerators, it can run top AI models such as Llama4, Llama3, Deepseek, Phi4, Qwen3, and Falcon3. Enterprises can accelerate their AI adoption without investing in costly infrastructure upgrades, making this server ideal for scaling workloads efficiently.
Its design allows compatibility with leading frameworks such as PyTorch and Hugging Face, enabling enterprises to fine-tune large models and execute complex inference tasks. In addition, the XE7740 efficiently supports AI-driven functions across sectors—ranging from healthcare analytics and genome sequencing to fraud detection and e-commerce personalization. As a result, it empowers organizations to deploy sophisticated, high-performance AI solutions within their on-premises environments.
Driving AI Accessibility and Innovation
The Dell PowerEdge XE7740 stands out for making enterprise-grade AI more accessible and cost-effective. It delivers a strong price-to-performance ratio by eliminating reliance on expensive cloud accelerators and reducing data egress fees. Furthermore, the modular architecture ensures scalability, enabling organizations to expand their AI capabilities in stages as demand grows.
Its efficient thermal design and power optimization guarantee compatibility with existing data center infrastructures, minimizing the need for retrofitting. The server’s Gaudi 3 architecture enhances long-term value, ensuring adaptability as AI technologies advance. Combined with prevalidated AI designs and enterprise-grade reliability, the XE7740 accelerates digital transformation and positions organizations to stay competitive in the evolving AI landscape.
