At Milan Design Week 2025, ASUS introduced a unique twist to its Zenbook series with the launch of the Ceraluminum Signature Edition collection. This limited-edition line features four distinct laptops, each crafted using ASUS’ proprietary Ceraluminum material—a fusion of ceramic and aluminum that aims to deliver both strength and lightweight portability.
Drawing inspiration from Earth’s most breathtaking natural environments, the collection showcases colors and textures that echo geological wonders. “Obsidian Black” mimics volcanic rock with its rugged matte finish, while “Luminous Blue” is speckled with glowing dots reminiscent of bioluminescent plankton seen at night along the shores of Vaadhoo Island in the Maldives. Meanwhile, “Pamukkale White,” accented with flecks of gold, draws from the mineral-rich terraces in Turkey. Lastly, “Terra Mocha” pays homage to the deep brown hues of Jordan’s Wadi Rum, also known as the Valley of the Moon.
Innovation in Material Design
Ceraluminum, a blend of ceramic and aluminum, sets this collection apart. According to ASUS, it merges the best properties of each component—offering the lightness of metal with the durability of ceramics. The material was developed in-house and offers a compelling alternative to traditional laptop materials such as full-metal or plastic bodies.
Notably, ASUS claims this new material not only reduces weight but also enhances structural integrity. Our brief hands-on with an earlier Ceraluminum-body Zenbook supported those claims, as the device held up well during daily use, including commutes. The tactile surface and lightweight frame made it an ideal companion for professionals on the go.
Release Date Still Pending
While the reveal of the collection generated excitement, ASUS has yet to announce an official release date. However, given the brand’s recent innovation track record, many expect the laptops to arrive sometime later this year. Until then, fans of sleek design and tech innovation will be keeping a close eye on further announcements.
