AIQ Secures $340M AI Contract to Transform Upstream Operations

AIQ and ADNOC sign a $340 million contract for AI deployment in energy operations

AIQ has announced a landmark $340 million contract with ADNOC to implement advanced agentic AI solutions across its upstream operations. This agreement follows a successful proof-of-concept phase and marks a significant step in ADNOC’s journey to becoming the world’s most AI-enabled energy company.

Large-Scale AI Deployment in ADNOC Operations

The three-year contract will enable the widespread implementation of ENERGYai and other AI-driven solutions throughout ADNOC’s upstream value chain. These technologies are expected to enhance operational efficiency, optimize resource utilization, and drive cost reductions while contributing to ADNOC’s sustainability goals.

ENERGYai is built on 70 years of proprietary data and expertise, combining large language model (LLM) technology with agentic AI, which has been specifically trained for ADNOC’s operational workflows. By integrating ENERGYai into key business processes, ADNOC will significantly reduce time-consuming tasks, such as seismic analysis, geological modeling, and real-time process monitoring. Essential workflows that previously required months will now be completed in a matter of days, enhancing ADNOC’s competitive edge in the global energy market.

AI-Driven Transformation in Energy

Musabbeh Al Kaabi, CEO of ADNOC Upstream, highlighted the company’s commitment to maximizing AI’s potential, stating, “ADNOC is on a mission to become the world’s most AI-enabled energy company, leveraging cutting-edge technologies to drive efficiency and value creation. We are excited to partner with AIQ to scale ENERGYai across our upstream business, reinforcing our position as a responsible and reliable energy supplier to global markets.”

A defining feature of ENERGYai is its capability to allow engineers to “converse” with ADNOC’s proprietary data using large language models. This innovation aims to enhance individual productivity, unlock new insights, and create strategic opportunities.

Magzhan Kenesbai, Acting Managing Director of AIQ, emphasized the transformative nature of the project, saying, “This contract represents a pivotal moment for AIQ. In collaboration with ADNOC, we have developed a world-first agentic AI solution that is scalable across the entire energy value chain. The transition from a successful proof-of-concept to full deployment showcases our commitment to delivering innovative AI solutions that shape the future of energy.”

Cutting-Edge AI Collaboration

ENERGYai was developed by AIQ in close partnership with ADNOC experts, G42, and Microsoft. The AI system will incorporate state-of-the-art technologies, including Microsoft Azure cloud stack, agentic AI platform functionality, the Open Subsurface Data Universe (OSDU) framework, and OpenAI models. This collaboration ensures that ADNOC’s AI solutions remain at the forefront of technological advancements.

Thomas Pramotedham, CEO of Presight, the major shareholder of AIQ, praised the initiative: “We congratulate AIQ on securing this groundbreaking agreement with ADNOC. Our collaboration demonstrates the UAE’s leadership in AI innovation, and through Presight’s support, we are shaping the future of AI integration in the energy sector. ENERGYai is setting a new global benchmark for agentic AI-driven excellence.”
