Healthpoint and Proximie Bring AI to Operating Rooms

Healthpoint Proximie AI Surgical Technology Partnership

Healthpoint, part of the M42 healthcare group, has partnered with Proximie to introduce AI-powered surgical intelligence across its main operating rooms in Abu Dhabi. Announced on October 23, 2026, the initiative aims to improve surgical coordination, scheduling, and operating room efficiency.

The technology will help clinical and operational teams monitor surgical activity as procedures progress. Moreover, it aims to identify potential delays earlier, support better scheduling decisions, and improve the use of existing operating room capacity. Healthpoint will become the first hospital in the M42 network to implement the platform.

How AI Will Support Surgical Teams

Proximie’s platform uses AI models supported by Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud infrastructure. It analyses surgical activity throughout the day and helps teams anticipate what may happen next. As a result, staff can track operating room schedules, spot emerging bottlenecks, and adjust plans as circumstances change.

The deployment will cover all operating rooms at Healthpoint and support its surgical procedures. In addition, the system will help teams follow surgical lists in real time, rather than relying solely on manual updates or reviews after procedures finish.

Improving Coordination and Operating Room Efficiency

The platform aims to strengthen coordination among surgeons, anaesthesia specialists, nurses, and perioperative teams. By highlighting potential pressure points earlier, it can help staff prepare for upcoming cases and manage available resources more effectively. As a result, hospitals may reduce avoidable delays and use existing operating room capacity more effectively.

Omar Al Naqbi, CEO of Healthpoint, said the partnership would give teams a real-time view of surgical activity. He added that earlier insights could help staff anticipate challenges, coordinate care, and plan with greater confidence. Meanwhile, Proximie founder and CEO Dr Nadine Hachach-Haram said the platform converts information generated during surgery into practical guidance for clinical teams.

Advancing AI-Enabled Healthcare in Abu Dhabi

The agreement follows a memorandum of understanding signed during the Abu Dhabi Future Health Summit. Furthermore, it supports Abu Dhabi’s broader efforts to integrate advanced technology into healthcare delivery. The partners also see potential for the experience to inform wider adoption across the M42 network.

The initiative reflects a growing use of AI to improve hospital operations and clinical workflows. However, its practical impact will depend on implementation and how effectively teams use the resulting insights. The announcement sets no specific targets for reducing surgical delays or improving patient outcomes.

Ultimately, Healthpoint and Proximie aim to make surgical schedules more predictable and resource planning more effective. By turning real-time operating room activity into actionable information, the partnership seeks to support better-coordinated surgical care across Abu Dhabi.
