Googlebook Laptops Launch With Gemini AI, OLED Display and Android Apps
Google has launched Googlebook, a new laptop category built around Gemini Intelligence and Android connectivity. Starting at $899, the laptops offer AI tools, native Android apps, cross-device features and up to 14 hours of battery life.
Googlebook pre-orders opened after the new laptop category was announced on September 22, 2026. The platform builds on ChromeOS features while offering a desktop-focused experience. Moreover, Android integration allows users to connect their laptops more closely with Android smartphones.
The laptops target people who regularly switch between smartphones and PCs. Therefore, Googlebook combines premium hardware with built-in AI capabilities, native Android applications and cross-device tools. Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP and Lenovo are among the first manufacturers offering Googlebook devices. Meanwhile, Qualcomm has confirmed that Snapdragon X Elite processors will power models from Dell and HP.
Googlebook price, display and AI features
Googlebook laptops start at $899 and use materials such as aluminium, magnesium alloy and carbon fibre. Additionally, select models offer up to a 2.8K OLED display, haptic glass trackpads and backlit keyboards.
The laptops provide up to 14 hours of battery life. They also include dedicated NPUs capable of delivering more than 45 TOPS for real-time AI processing. Furthermore, the Glowbar feature returns with animations, battery information and responses to Gemini interactions.
Gemini Intelligence sits at the centre of the Googlebook experience. For instance, Magic Pointer lets users bring Gemini into tasks involving content displayed on the screen. Rambler, meanwhile, converts spoken words into organised notes. Create My Widget can also generate desktop widgets from natural-language instructions. As a result, these tools aim to reduce the need to constantly move between applications.
Googlebook also combines the desktop Chrome browser and extensions with Android applications from the Play Store. Consequently, users can run supported apps such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Lightroom and CapCut. Supported streaming services also provide offline viewing.
Thousands of Android games will be available on the platform. In addition, every purchase includes a one-year GeForce NOW subscription, according to Google. Developers will also have access to Google’s Antigravity AI development platform and a complete terminal environment for coding workflows.
Android connectivity and cross-device tools
Googlebook is designed to work closely with Android phones from the beginning. According to Google, users can transfer settings, saved passwords, Wi-Fi networks and messages to the laptop using end-to-end encryption.
Several features support movement between smartphones and laptops. For example, Continue On allows users to resume work started on their phones. Files provides access to phone files from the laptop. Meanwhile, Cast My Apps lets users interact with smartphone applications through desktop windows.
Therefore, users can move between mobile and desktop environments without repeatedly transferring files or reopening their work manually. The approach makes Android connectivity a central part of the Googlebook experience rather than an additional feature.
Security, availability and launch date
Google says Googlebook uses a security architecture based on ChromeOS protections. It includes a Google Titan hardware root of trust, defence-in-depth protections and on-device malware detection. Additionally, the system includes a hypervisor with Level 5 security certification for an isolated Linux environment using pKVM.
Pre-orders are available through the Google Store, Best Buy and select retailers. The devices will launch in the United States on October 4, 2026. Subsequently, they will arrive in Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Germany and Australia on October 5.
Qualcomm also announced on September 22 that Snapdragon X Elite chips will power Googlebook models from Dell and HP. The company claims that these devices combine Snapdragon performance and NPU capabilities with Gemini Intelligence and Android connectivity.
