Samsung Unveils Odyssey G Gaming Monitors With 1,100Hz Refresh Rate
Samsung has unveiled four new gaming monitors from its Odyssey G series at Gamescom 2026. The lineup includes the Odyssey OLED G9, OLED G8, OLED G7, and Odyssey G6.
The new monitors target different types of gamers with large displays and high refresh rates. However, pricing and release dates remain undisclosed. Market availability also has not been confirmed.
Meanwhile, Samsung has announced an HDR10+ Gaming partnership with Activision Blizzard. The collaboration will bring HDR gameplay into the development process for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4.
Furthermore, the company plans to expand HDR10+ Gaming to more than 20 AAA titles by the first half of 2027.
Odyssey OLED G9 and G8 Bring High Refresh Rates
The Odyssey OLED G9 (G95SJ) is the largest model in the lineup. It features a 49-inch Dual QHD OLED display with a 5,120 x 1,440-pixel resolution.
The monitor uses a fifth-generation QD-OLED panel and supports a 360Hz refresh rate. Moreover, Samsung claims the panel is 1.3 times more efficient than older versions.
The company also claims that the new panel can last twice as long as previous models. Additionally, the G9 reaches a peak brightness of 1,300 nits on a 3 percent window at 4K resolution.
For competitive gaming, the G9 can also reach a 720Hz refresh rate. However, gamers must reduce the resolution to Dual HD, or 2,560 x 720 pixels, to use it.
Next, the Odyssey OLED G8 (G80SJ) offers a flatter design with a 32-inch UHD display. It supports a 360Hz refresh rate at its native UHD resolution.
The monitor also features triple-mode support. Therefore, gamers can choose UHD at 360Hz, QHD at 520Hz, or FHD at 680Hz.
The G8 uses Glare Free technology to reduce glare by about 54 percent compared with conventional anti-reflection film. Additionally, it supports AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible.
For connectivity, the monitor includes one DisplayPort 2.1 UHBR20 port and two HDMI ports. It also features a USB-C port and a USB hub with two downstream ports.
Odyssey OLED G7 and 1,100Hz Odyssey G6
The Odyssey OLED G7 (G75SJ) focuses on immersive curved gaming. Samsung claims its 42-inch display is the world’s first 16:9 curved OLED gaming monitor of its size.
Its OLED panel supports a 165Hz refresh rate and a 0.03ms GtG response time. Meanwhile, the curved display uses a 1,000mm radius.
The G7 also features Glare Free technology. As a result, gamers should experience fewer distracting reflections during gameplay.
Finally, the Odyssey G6 (G60H) targets gamers who prioritize extremely high refresh rates. It features a 27-inch QHD display, although it does not use OLED technology.
The G6 reaches an impressive 1,100Hz refresh rate when running at HD resolution. However, QHD resolution limits the refresh rate to 600Hz.
At QHD resolution, the monitor also provides a 1ms response time. Therefore, it could appeal particularly to competitive players who prioritize responsiveness and high frame rates.
Overall, the new Odyssey G series covers a wide range of gaming needs. The G9 focuses on a massive curved OLED experience, while the G8 combines resolution with flexible refresh modes.
Meanwhile, the G7 brings a large curved OLED panel, and the G6 pushes refresh rates to an extreme 1,100Hz. However, gamers will need to wait for pricing and availability details before deciding which model fits their setup.
