Nvidia Reveals $21 Billion SpaceX Stake

Nvidia has disclosed a roughly $21 billion stake in SpaceX, revealing another major financial link between the chipmaker and Elon Musk’s expanding technology empire. The position was worth about $21 billion at the end of June 2026.

The disclosure came through Nvidia’s latest regulatory filing. It shows that the company held nearly 123 million SpaceX shares at the end of the second quarter.

However, the holding has fallen in value since then. SpaceX shares have retreated from their June 30 closing price of $170.86. At recent prices, Nvidia’s stake is worth roughly $17 billion.

Stake Emerged From Nvidia’s xAI Investment

Nvidia’s SpaceX position did not begin as a direct investment in the rocket company. Instead, it emerged from Nvidia’s investment in xAI, Musk’s artificial intelligence company.

Nvidia invested $10 billion in xAI during a funding round in January 2026. Subsequently, SpaceX acquired xAI in February. The transaction converted Nvidia’s xAI investment into SpaceX equity.

As a result, Nvidia became a significant SpaceX shareholder without initially purchasing SpaceX shares directly. The structure also highlights how closely Musk’s space and AI businesses have become connected.

SpaceX has since positioned computing as an important part of its long-term strategy. Moreover, the company plans to expand its AI infrastructure substantially.

Nvidia’s SpaceX Holding Becomes Major Asset

The SpaceX investment now ranks among Nvidia’s largest equity positions. It trails Nvidia’s Intel investment, which was valued at about $30 billion at the end of June. That Intel stake has since fallen to roughly $22 billion.

Meanwhile, Nvidia’s relationship with SpaceX extends beyond ownership. SpaceX has committed to using Nvidia’s Vera Rubin architecture for its data centers. Musk has also said SpaceX expects a significant volume of Nvidia’s next-generation GPUs.

Therefore, the investment creates a direct financial connection between Nvidia’s AI hardware business and SpaceX’s computing ambitions. As SpaceX expands its AI infrastructure, Nvidia could benefit from additional demand for its processors.

The relationship also reflects Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang’s broader investment strategy. Nvidia has increasingly invested in companies operating across the AI infrastructure ecosystem. The chipmaker has reportedly deployed more than $100 billion across AI companies and infrastructure over the past two years.

SpaceX Stake Adds to Nvidia’s AI Strategy

Nvidia’s disclosure comes shortly after SpaceX became a publicly traded company. The company completed its IPO in June, raising about $85.7 billion and briefly pushing its market value above $2 trillion.

However, SpaceX shares have declined from their post-IPO levels. Consequently, Nvidia’s $21 billion quarter-end position has already lost several billion dollars in market value.

Still, the investment gives Nvidia exposure to one of the fastest-growing private technology ecosystems. SpaceX is expanding Starlink while also developing large-scale AI computing infrastructure. Its first quarterly results as a public company showed revenue growth of 92% year over year to $7.8 billion.

For Nvidia, the SpaceX stake therefore represents more than a financial holding. It connects the company to Musk’s growing AI and space infrastructure ambitions while potentially strengthening Nvidia’s position as SpaceX scales its computing operations.
