Apple’s First Foldable iPhone Ultra Expected at September Event

Apple is preparing for its annual iPhone launch event in early September, where it is expected to introduce the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and its first foldable iPhone.

The foldable model, reportedly called the iPhone Ultra, could mark Apple’s entry into the foldable smartphone market. Additionally, the company is expected to follow a different launch strategy this year by separating premium and standard iPhone releases.

Foldable iPhone Ultra and September Launch Plans

Reports suggest that Apple may announce its new devices on September 8 or 9, following the U.S. Labor Day holiday on September 7. Furthermore, retail employees have reportedly started preparing for the in-person event at Apple Park.

Unlike previous launches, Apple is expected to split its iPhone lineup release schedule. Therefore, the premium iPhone 18 Pro models and foldable iPhone could arrive in September, while the standard iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e may launch in early 2027.

The rumored iPhone Ultra is expected to feature a book-style folding design. Moreover, it could include an inner display measuring around 7.7 to 7.8 inches and an outer screen between 5.3 and 5.5 inches.

The device may become Apple’s most expensive iPhone, with estimated pricing between $1,999 and $2,499. Additionally, reports suggest it could use Touch ID integrated into the power button instead of Face ID and include two rear cameras.

iPhone 18 Pro Features and Hardware Upgrades

The iPhone 18 Pro series is expected to introduce several hardware improvements. Furthermore, the devices may feature Apple’s A20 Pro chip based on a 2nm manufacturing process, a variable aperture camera system, a smaller Dynamic Island, and larger batteries.

Analyst Jeff Pu has suggested that the Pro models could receive a price increase of around $250 to $300 because of component supply challenges. Additionally, Apple is reportedly facing memory shortages that could affect device availability during launch.

Possible New Additions and Future Strategy

Alongside the iPhone lineup, Apple may also introduce camera-equipped AirPods earlier than expected. Moreover, references to this hardware have reportedly appeared in iOS 27 beta code.

If launched, Apple’s foldable iPhone could represent a major shift in the company’s smartphone strategy. Therefore, the September event may become one of Apple’s most significant product announcements in recent years.
