The highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look will premiere on Netflix on August 27 at 3 PM ET. Moreover, this marks the first time a major reveal for the franchise will debut on a streaming platform instead of its traditional official channels.
Subscribers will receive exclusive access to the presentation for six hours. Afterward, it will become available on YouTube and the game’s official website at 9 PM ET on the same day. Although details remain limited, the presentation is expected to offer more than the two trailers released in December 2023 and May 2025. So far, neither trailer has featured actual gameplay with a visible HUD or player-controlled footage.
GTA 6 Moves Closer to Release
Meanwhile, the game remains on track for its November 19 launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Pre-orders opened in June, with the standard edition priced at $79.99 and the Ultimate Edition at $99.99, which includes premium in-game items.
Additionally, the title has spent more than 13 years in development. Its predecessor, GTA V, has sold nearly 230 million copies across three console generations. The upcoming release will feature a single-player experience set in the fictional state of Leonida. However, developers have not announced an online mode.
Fans Split Over Exclusive Streaming Window
The six-hour Netflix exclusivity period has sparked mixed reactions among fans. While some welcomed the partnership, others argued that limiting access to a major promotional event behind a subscription creates an unnecessary barrier.
Previously, the two companies collaborated to bring the original GTA trilogy to mobile devices through Netflix’s games library. This latest partnership expands that relationship by giving subscribers early access to one of the gaming industry’s biggest upcoming showcases.
