CDA and UAEV Expand EV Charging Network Across Dubai

EV charging station installation

The Community Development Authority (CDA) has partnered with UAEV to expand electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure across key community facilities in Dubai. As part of the initiative, new charging stations will be installed at Majlis locations, community councils, and wedding halls. Consequently, residents and visitors will gain easier access to charging services while supporting the UAE’s clean mobility goals.

UAEV, the country’s first fully government-owned EV charging network and the national Charge Point Operator (CPO), will oversee the deployment of the charging stations. Moreover, the project supports the UAE’s Net Zero by 2050 Strategy by integrating sustainable infrastructure into community-focused destinations.

First Phase Completed, More Sites Planned Through 2027

The first phase has already introduced operational EV charging stations at Al Rashidiya Majlis, Al Barsha Majlis, and Nad Al Sheba Majlis. Meanwhile, the network will expand during 2026 to include Al Khawaneej Majlis, Al Warqa Majlis, and Al Barsha Wedding Hall.

Furthermore, the second phase will begin in 2027. It will add charging stations at Al Twar Wedding Hall, Al Awir Majlis, and Hatta Majlis. As a result, Dubai’s public EV charging network will continue to grow across residential communities.

Partnership Supports Green Mobility Goals

Sheikha Al Jarman, CEO of the Social Development Sector at the Community Development Authority, said the partnership reflects the authority’s commitment to delivering integrated community services while supporting environmental sustainability.

Al Jarman noted that transforming community facilities into platforms for sustainable initiatives contributes to the UAE’s transition towards a green economy and encourages wider adoption of electric vehicles by providing convenient charging options close to where people live and gather.

Meanwhile, Ali Al Darwish, Acting Chief Executive Officer of UAEV, described the agreement as a significant step in expanding access to reliable EV charging services across Dubai. Al Darwish said charging stations have already been deployed at strategic community locations, including Al Barsha, Nad Al Sheba, and Al Khawaneej, with additional sites currently under development as part of UAEV’s broader strategy to increase the geographical coverage of the national charging network.

Overall, the partnership is expected to accelerate EV adoption across Dubai. At the same time, it will strengthen the emirate’s sustainability efforts by expanding convenient, community-based charging infrastructure.
