OpenAI Brings ChatGPT to Microsoft PowerPoint in New AI Move

ChatGPT inside Microsoft PowerPoint interface

OpenAI has introduced a beta ChatGPT add-in for Microsoft PowerPoint, allowing users to create and refine presentations directly inside the app. Notably, the feature is available across nearly all ChatGPT subscription tiers, including free users and Business subscribers.

The integration places a ChatGPT sidebar within PowerPoint, making slide creation more conversational and efficient. As a result, users can generate complete presentations from simple prompts or improve existing decks without leaving the platform.

Smarter Slide Creation Inside PowerPoint

Users can upload notes, spreadsheets, documents, images, or existing presentations and ask ChatGPT to turn them into structured, editable slides. Additionally, the tool can pull relevant information from connected platforms such as Gmail, Outlook, and SharePoint.

Beyond creating decks, the assistant can rewrite slide text, sharpen headings, add fresh sections, summarize lengthy presentations, and improve overall flow. To begin, users simply install the ChatGPT add-in through PowerPoint’s Add-ins section or the Microsoft Marketplace, then sign in with their OpenAI account.

AI Productivity Race Heats Up

The launch arrives as competition in AI-powered workplace tools intensifies. Earlier this month, Anthropic introduced Claude integrations for PowerPoint, Excel, and Word, while Google continues expanding Gemini within its productivity ecosystem.

Meanwhile, the timing aligns with growing speculation around OpenAI’s public market ambitions. Therefore, expanding ChatGPT across widely used enterprise tools could strengthen its position with both business users and potential investors.
