Ford Mustang Dark Horse SC Raises Track Performance

Ford Mustang Dark Horse SC driving

Ford expands the Mustang lineup with the Dark Horse SC, positioned between the Dark Horse and the Mustang GTD. Under the hood, a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 pairs with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. While official output figures remain pending, the configuration signals a clear performance step above the 500-horsepower Dark Horse. Meanwhile, the platform benefits from MagneRide dampers with updated software. Additionally, revised springs, stiffer stabilizer bars, updated knuckles, and modified front control arms sharpen handling. A lightweight magnesium strut tower brace further improves rigidity.

Aerodynamics, Braking, and Track Capability

To support higher limits, Ford enhances airflow and cooling with a redesigned front fascia. As a result, the center opening grows by 65 percent, while the side inlets double in size. Moreover, an aluminum hood increases downforce significantly, and a new rear diffuser improves stability. Braking also receives attention, with six-piston front and four-piston rear Brembo calipers as standard. The car rides on 20-inch aluminum wheels wrapped in Pirelli P Zero R tires.

For drivers seeking more, the optional Track Package adds carbon-fiber wheels and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires. In addition, carbon-ceramic brakes and GTD-derived traction control raise track performance. Together, updated aero components generate substantial rear downforce at high speed.

Interior, Options, and Availability

Inside, the Dark Horse SC adopts a focused layout with Alcantara and carbon-fiber accents. The Track Package introduces Recaro sport seats, while standard models offer them as an option. Furthermore, buyers can select appearance upgrades, including a Teal Accent Package or a Carbon Exterior Package. For 2026, a limited Track Pack Special Edition combines multiple upgrades with exclusive finishes and interior accents.
