ChatGPT Health has been introduced as a new space focused solely on health-related conversations. As a result, users can discuss medical and wellness topics without mixing them into everyday chats.
People already ask health questions at scale. In fact, more than 230 million users raise health and wellness topics each week. However, the new feature separates these discussions so personal health context does not appear in standard conversations. If users begin a health-related chat elsewhere, the system will prompt them to move into the Health section.
How context and integrations work
Within Health, the assistant can still reference relevant details from general usage. For example, if someone previously discussed marathon training, the system can recognize them as a runner when fitness goals come up later. Therefore, conversations remain more consistent and personalized.
In addition, ChatGPT Health can connect with personal data from wellness apps such as Apple Health, Function, and MyFitnessPal. At the same time, health conversations will not be used to train models. This approach aims to balance usefulness with privacy.
Benefits, limits, and rollout timeline
The CEO of Applications wrote in a blog post that she sees ChatGPT Health as a response to existing issues in the healthcare space, like cost and access barriers, overbooked doctors, and a lack of continuity in care.
Still, using AI for medical guidance brings challenges. While large language models can sound confident, they predict likely responses rather than verified truth. As a result, errors and hallucinations remain possible. The platform also states in its terms that it is “not intended for use in the diagnosis or treatment of any health condition.”
The feature is expected to roll out in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, its arrival signals a growing role for AI in personal health conversations, alongside ongoing debates about safety and reliability.
