Abu Dhabi Airports, Al Hail Partner on Digital Travel
Abu Dhabi Airports and Al Hail Holding have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen the UAE’s position as a global hub for tourism, fintech, and sustainable mobility. The collaboration underscores Abu Dhabi Airports’ commitment to shaping the future of aviation through cutting-edge technologies that enhance passenger experiences and drive national economic growth.
The agreement outlines plans to explore next-generation payment solutions, including stablecoins and digital assets, enabling faster and more secure transactions. Additionally, this initiative supports the UAE Digital Economy Strategy and Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030 by accelerating financial technology adoption and creating a future-ready digital economy.
Enhancing Traveler Experience with Digital Wallets
Under this partnership, Al Hail Holding, along with its group companies Index Exchange and Zand Bank, will work with technology partner Xare to design and implement a regulated digital wallet for inbound travelers. The digital wallet, set to be piloted at Zayed International Airport, will offer visitors a secure and convenient platform for cashless transactions. As a result, it will elevate the overall travel experience while promoting financial innovation within the tourism sector.
Beyond payments, the collaboration establishes a joint steering committee to manage project execution. Abu Dhabi Airports will contribute operational access, infrastructure, and ecosystem integration, while Al Hail Holding will provide governance, regulatory guidance, and financial structuring expertise.
Driving Sustainability and Smart Mobility
In addition to financial technology solutions, the partnership will advance projects in smart mobility and sustainability. These efforts will integrate AI-enabled systems, intelligent transport technologies, and eco-friendly infrastructure to enhance efficiency, safety, and environmental performance across Abu Dhabi Airports’ network. Consequently, the initiative aligns with Abu Dhabi Airports’ long-term vision of transforming airports into dynamic, tech-driven centers of innovation, sustainability, and hospitality — reinforcing the Emirate’s leadership in the global digital economy.
